The first power train modification we recommend is a rear-end gear set for better acceleration.
Our first choice for street performance on a normally aspirated motor is 3.55. Automatic cars respond well to 3.73s. Griggs Racing offers motorsport gears for $189.95.
If the car is going to see a bunch of horsepower, or any road course duty, the stock C-Clip axle assembly and friction style differentials become real problems. We modify 8.8 housings to accept the massively-stronger 9 inch big-bearing axle and have developed a Torque-Biasing differential that delivers all the forward bite of a spool without any of the drivability or handling problems. Complete blueprinted rear ends with axles and gears start around $1,350.
Borg Warner's production T-5 transmission has been steadily improved since 1992 and is capable of dealing with as much as 375 horsepower on a streetcar. If you have more power, or larger tires you should consider a T-56 six speed, which is capable of withstanding much more abuse. We offer complete installation services. For all out race cars, there is no substitute for a Jerico.
