Ernesto Roco Returns, Lowers AIX Track Records.

After many months of anticipation, West Coast American Iron fans got to see Ernesto Roco's return to NASA racing with his former AI class race wining 98, GR40 Cobra, converted to American Iron Extreme specifications. With one event remaining on the 05 AIX schedule, and although retaining the same 302 based power plant and Tremec drive train used during his AI competition, his move up in class netted race wins and track records his first two events after returning. Modifications included a new GR40 SLA suspension along with new lighter and wider body panels allowed by the rules.

Although a slim field of AIX cars appeared at both events, his lap times tell the story. With his 400 hp mount, at Willow Springs Raceway he lowered the track record held by a much more powerful Mustang and driven by a professional Driver, Ross Murray by over a second and later at Buttonwillow Raceway, he lowered the record by nearly 6 seconds, taking the record from the more powerful car of Bill Dafron, who last year changed from GR40 to another chassis manufacturer who "promised him more support."

We expect the same from Ernesto at the last race, at Thunderhill Park where you can see him run October 29th and 30th. http://www.thunderhill.com

Congratulations Ernesto and Welcome back!
Ernesto is not one to sit on the forums theorizing and/or pontificating. No, Ernesto dedicates his time working at and learning what it takes to win, including GR40 chassis.
