Spherical Rod End

THE DEFINITION AS EXPLAINED BY BRUCE GRIGGS

A Spherical Rod End is a bearing that allows angular misalignment in multiple planes at a suspension link’s pivot point. Unlike rubber bushings, which deflect under load and introduce compliance, spherical rod ends provide zero-deflection precision while accommodating the angular changes that occur as the suspension cycles. They eliminate bind, improve steering precision, and allow the suspension to operate exactly as the geometry intends. Trade-off: noise and harshness transmission compared to rubber bushings. Griggs Racing uses spherical rod ends in performance applications where precision matters.
