Splitter

THE DEFINITION AS EXPLAINED BY BRUCE GRIGGS

A Splitter is a horizontal aerodynamic surface extending forward from the front bumper at ground level. The splitter creates downforce by maintaining high air pressure above its surface while accelerating air below it, producing a pressure differential that pushes the front of the car downward. Splitters are critical aerodynamic elements in track-driven cars, increasing front grip and reducing front-end lift at speed.
