SLA — Short Long Arm — refers to a front suspension geometry using two unequal-length control arms (a shorter upper arm and longer lower arm) to locate the wheel. As the suspension cycles, the unequal arm lengths produce favorable camber gain in jounce, keeping the tire contact patch flatter against the road during cornering. SLA geometry is the gold standard for performance front suspension and is used in nearly all professional motorsport. Griggs Racing converts MacPherson strut Mustangs to true SLA front geometry.
